Pilates is a body conditioning method, that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. It targets the deep postural muscles, and builds strength from the inside out. It is designed to create a strong core without the pain associated with conventional exercises.

By improving body awareness and focus, tension is released and correct body alignment is taught. By correcting muscle imbalances, the body is realigned. By stretching as well as strengthening a more streamlined figure can be obtained.

Most techniques focus on the superficial muscles of the body i.e. biceps and pump them up for effect. However sheer mass of a muscle inhibits it's freedom to move. An example of strength, grace and flexibility is the late martial artist Bruce Lee. He has proven that you can be strong without losing the abilty to move freely.

The end result is a body that is lean, supple and strong.
